TXARP was represented with a booth at the 15th Annual Depot Day Festival in Gainesville, Texas.    We had a very good location near the speaker platform.    In attendance were Glenn Jones, Director at Large, Ray Dunbar, East Texas Director, and Tim Geeslin, President.    Also working with us was Roger Carter of OPRA.    We gave out a lot of information and answered a lot of questions.

The first Santa Fe passenger train arrived in Gainesville on January 2, 1887.    This depot was the second Santa Fe Depot and was constructed in 1902.     It contained a Harvey House Restaurant on the ground level and the Harvey Girls lived on the second floor.

During the Second World War II a total of three infantry divisions passed through this depot from Camp Howze.

This is Margaret Hays, TXARP member and former Mayor of Gainesville, looking over the booth.     Margaret was and is one of the driving forces in the restoration of the 1902 Santa Fe Depot.

Here it is, all of those who have poked fun at Ray Dunbar over his "Fried Pies" now can see the source of his addiction.    Ray is known around the country for his fried pie habit.

Ray is a fair person, here we see him in his usual stance testing a competitor's Fried pie product.    These were "Grandmothers Fried Pies".

Ray is seen sacking up Travel Planners, Time Tables and such at the TXARP booth.   We had a steady flow at the booth most of the day.

Ray seen here with a lady dressed in Harvey House attire contends the Harvey House never left Gainesville.    Who knows she came from inside the Depot?
